Ahmad Jalili Jahromi is the director of the movie “Sentenced to Death”. The film portraits a group of women in Iran who have committed crimes. Marjan is the group leader and founds a theatre group in prison. The work in the theatre brings women together and changes their views and priorities. During the rehearsal, one of the actresses, Safieh, finds out that her execution will be held the next day. Many attempts to save Safieh from this verdict fail.
The filmmaker tells how he always gets sad while watching the film. For me, the movie shows that such a bright woman as Safieh should have had another chance. The prisoners do not look any different from us. They are also people. And people make mistakes.
