The film “Niñxs” tells the story of Karla. Director Kani Lapuerta accompanied his Mexican niece for eight years. Karla is transgender and has to endure a lot of hostility in public—yet she and the film remain hopeful.
Kani Lapuerta has succeeded in telling Karla’s story in an interesting film. The DOK Spotters met him and talked about the making of the documentary.

The film continued to occupy our thoughts even after we left the theater, so much so that we held a discussion among colleagues to share our impressions and feelings.
