Prison is not usually the first thing we associate with cinema. But “DOK im Knast” combines these seemingly incompatible concepts by allowing a jury of inmates to select one—this time even two—winning films each year. These are then presented in the hall of the Regis-Breitlingen Youth Detention Center, where the young adults have the opportunity to hand over the trophies they have made themselves. Jule, Dante, and Elisa were there for us and report on the prison cinema experience:
